Thermochemistry

Thermochemistry is a mobile application available on Apple Store. It helps in evaluation of enthalpy or heat release/absorption of a system undergoing numerous temperature changes and phase transitions, taking advantage of known values of heat capacity  (Cp) and enthalpy values of phase transitions. Additionally application contains Calorimetry section, that provides means for evaluation of the heat capacity of calorimeter (calibration) and for finding equilibrium temperature of the simple and complex mixed systems.

Reaction Thermodynamics is an application, that helps in evaluation of main thermodynamic parameters (ΔG, ΔH, ΔS, Keq) of chemical reaction. It is available on Apple Store.

Electrochemistry

Electrochemistry is an application available on Apple Store for iOS and Mac, that helps to deal with oxidation-reduction reactions and electrochemical cells. The app combines a standard half-reactions into a single redox equation and finds the overall standard potential, equilibrium constant, free Gibbs energy and total voltage in accordance with Nernst equation. Liposome Preparation

This post will discuss the quantitative approach to preparation of lipid vesicles (liposomes) or similar systems. To facilitate and speed up the routine calculations, we will take advantage of a scientific applications, particularly “Chemical Solution Wizard” and “Liposome Calculator”.

Isoelectric Point (IEP) is an application available on Apple Store, that helps to estimate the charge of macromolecule (proteins, peptides, amino acids, DNA, etc.), consisting of basic and acidic residues as a function of pH value of solution. The application graphically represents the charge fluctuation over the whole range of pH values and finds out the isoelectric point value. The application can extract the protein sequence (chain by chain) from FASTA files.

The “Chemical Kinetics” is a scientific application available on Apple Store for iOS  and Mac, that analytically solves chemical reaction rate equations and provides graphical representation of reagent and product concentrations and pressures changes with time. Additionally, app calculates half-life times and equilibrium constants where it is appropriate.

Solubility Products

Solubility Products is a scientific application available on Play Store, Apple Store for iOS and Mac, that helps with accurate estimation of concentrations of solutes upon dissolution of solid compounds of low solubility. The tool is applicable to various chemical equilibrium tasks, such as salt dissociation to electrolytes, common-ion effect, separation by sedimentation and precipitation titration. Application derives final, equilibrium concentrations of solutes based on equilibrium constant (Ksp), initial concentrations, solubility and stoichiometric coefficients. Additionally, app calculates reaction quotient for any given concentrations and stoichiometry.

Chemical Solution Wizard

Chemical Solution Wizard is a mobile application available on Play Store and Apple Store, that has been designed to help with preparation and parameterization of complex chemical solutions. Numerous solution parameters, such as molarity, molality, mg/ml, solute moles, total volume etc. can be calculated based upon initial data provided, such as: initial molar concentrations of the starting solutions, initial volumes, desired molar ratios and additional solvent volume (dilution).

Acid Base pH

Acid Base pH is an ultimate tool for accurate estimation of pH values of standalone and mixed acid – base aqueous solutions and titration curve plotting. The application is available on Apple Store for iOS and Mac.
